Brighton Energy Co-op Seeks new Non-Executive Director for Board
BRIGHTON ENERGY CO-OP SEEKS NEW NON-EXEC DIRECTOR
Brighton Energy Co-op are seeking a new Non-Executive Director with Technical Sales Strategy Expertise and/or strong local networks to support our established Board
Brighton Energy Co-op (BEC) is celebrating its 15th year as the South East’s largest solar installer. We built the first community-owned renewables project in Brighton & Hove back in 2016 and now have over 120 arrays. We work with over 60 business or public sector organisations (not domestic) who essentially rent us their roofs to build solar on. They benefit from reduced electricity bills, improved EPC rating and raised ESG standards. We put up to 3% of annual revenue into our Community Fund that runs a free energy & carbon footprint education programme for Sussex schools & colleges. See our website here. https://www.brightonenergy.org.uk
Non-Executive Board Members focus on independent oversight and guidance, rather than day-to-day management. Key responsibilities include contributing to strategy and policy, challenging executive decisions, overseeing financial performance and risk management, and ensuring good corporate governance and stakeholder interests are met. Essential traits for the role are commercial acumen, financial expertise, impartiality, integrity, emotional intelligence, gravitas, and relevant professional experience.
We are keen to gain support with our Technical Sales Strategy. We welcome applications from candidates who bring strong local networks and community connections that can support the organisation’s growth and stakeholder engagement. We also encourage people from diverse backgrounds to apply.
Meetings are held every 2 months in central Brighton and usually run from 10am-12pm on a weekday. The roles are offered on a pro bono basis.
If you are interested in joining our Board and have the relevant business credentials and experience, please email our Co-founder Damian Tow damian@brightonenergy.org.uk with your CV and one-page supporting statement.
