Decisive

Are you interested in new ideas to grow and develop yourself and your business?

Join us for the next Chamber Business Book Club on 21 October – it’s for people who love to learn, want to get new perspectives on business, personal development and meet people with shared interests.

The book we’re reading next is Decisiveby Chip & Dan Heath.

Why do we often struggle to make good decisions? Decisive digs into the quirks of human psychology that lead us to narrow our options, overvalue certain information and let emotions cloud our judgment. Through engaging stories and practical tools, the Heath brothers reveal a simple, four-step process to make choices that are clearer, smarter, and more effective – whether in business, leadership or everyday life.

The big takeaway? Our gut instincts aren’t always wrong, but they’re rarely enough. The key is widening our view, testing our assumptions, and creating space between decision and action.

Whether you’re choosing a new direction, going for that proposal or deciding where to focus your energy in business next, these ideas will help you tackle decisions with more clarity and confidence.

Come along, share your thoughts, and see how better decision-making could give you, and your business, the edge.

About Book Club

Amy Lishman, Head of Member Engagement & Deputy CEO at Brighton Chamber, facilitates the discussion and shares prompts and questions about the themes and topics for you to reflect upon.

We'll send you a synopsis a couple of weeks in advance, to get you thinking about what you might want to talk about on the night. You don’t need to have come to the previous Book Clubs to attend.

Being part of the Chamber Business Book Club will get you delving into that pile of books – and introduce you to new titles that aren't yet on your reading list.

You can buy the book from any good retailer. City Books has an excellent selection of business books. You can buy over the phone from them or online through https://uk.bookshop.org/shop/city-books - or, Bookshop.org is an online bookshop that supports independent bookshops.

Books we’ve read previously:

Black Box Thinking by Matthew Syed

Dare to lead by Brené Brown

Stolen Focus: Why you can't pay attention by Johann Hari

Great by Choice by Jim Collins

Deep Work by Cal Newport

Quiet by Susan Cain

Belonging by Owen Eastwood

The Four Tendencies by Gretchen Rubin
