Inside Leadership: A conversation with Paul Barber, CEO of BHAFC

By Brighton Chamber

A story of exceptional growth from Sussex

> Book now

Somewhere between the early wins and the next stage of growth, things can get less clear – bigger decisions, more people, more moving parts and less obvious answers.

Inside Leadership, brought to you by the teams at Brighton Chamber, PLATF9RM and Freedom Works, gives you the chance to hear from someone who’s already navigated a successful organisation through that stage. It’s designed to bring together business leaders from across our networks to hear from people who know the joys and rewards that also come with the growing pains.

Paul Barber, CEO and Deputy Chairman of Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club (BHAFC) joins us at our next Inside Leadership, in conversation with Carina Bauer, CEO at IMEX Group and Non-Executive Director at BHAFC.

BHAFC is widely recognised as one of the best-run football clubs in the world. Paul will give a rare behind-the-scenes view of leadership choices, culture and values that have shaped the club’s extra-ordinary 15-year journey. Hear how he’s embedded vision, values and behaviours across an organisation as it scaled from 50 to 550 people; built a culture that can sustain high performance; and delivered results both on and off the pitch without diluting purpose, or standards.

Seagulls fan or not, come away with new ideas you can apply to your own organisation from the lessons learnt through BHAFC’s journey to strengthen culture, performance and values.

You’ll also have the chance to ask Paul your own questions and meet with other business leaders in the room. Leave with a sprinkling of inspiration and new ideas, from a room full of like-minded people who are navigating growth with thoughtful leadership in mind.

What to expect

  • Arrive from 5.30pm for a complimentary welcome drink
  • From 6.00–7.00pm, hear from Paul Barber in conversation, followed by audience Q&A
  • Stay on afterwards for informal networking and a paid bar

You’ll also have the chance to ask Paul your own questions and meet with other business leaders in the room. Leave with a sprinkling of inspiration and new ideas, from a room full of like-minded people who are growing or scaling their own businesses with thoughtful leadership in mind.

With thanks to the event sponsor, Barclays Eagle Labs.
