Summit Blog: Make good trouble

The call of the great unknown is constantly embraced by Daisy Cresswell, co-founder of award-winning social media agency, Liberty842 and the first Keynote Speaker at this years’ Brighton Summit.

Daisy’s opening speech took us through the impressive history of her agency. From the initial ‘let’s just do this’ to the ‘WTF?’ moment that came years later, Daisy and her sister, Taylor have formed an impressive legacy that has lead them to a new chapter in their story.

From a business perspective, Daisy gave some useful tips to braving the unknown:

1.       Always examine the data

2.       Be of the moment – react to trends and events happening around you

3.       Have a clear goal and purpose

4.       Act with authenticity

5.       Don’t be afraid to collaborate

6.       Aim high

7.       Never be nasty

Her closing point, and what felt like the main tip in her arsenal, was ‘make (good) trouble’, and this is exactly what the pair have been doing with their most recent project.

One morning, Daisy woke to her teenage daughter’s boundless energy and optimism and had that crushing realisation many of us have experienced. The ‘WTF?’ moment. WTF am I doing with my life? For the world? For the future of my loved ones? From here, the sisters put the wheels in motion to use their digital and social media skills for good.

The pair got rid of 70% of their clients to create more time, which Daisy highlighted is more valuable than money. They then launched a project aimed at helping teenagers, especially young girls, who are suffering with depression. The project will soon launch and, although Daisy didn’t give too much away, she made it clear that they would love any support they can get.

If, like me, you’re passionate about helping those with mental health and depression, get in touch with Daisy through The Chamber and see how you can help. As Daisy highlighted, the best way to work with someone is just to ask, and to speak to their passion place.
