Over 50? Feedback on Ethical Retirement Practises

The Business Community Partnership is looking  to gather as many views as possible from employees over 50 to inform an Ethical Retirement Practises guide, which will be launched in the Autumn of 2010.

Retirement cannot come soon enough for some, and for others represents a number of fears, not just financial, but also concerning loss of status, fear of boredom and not knowing how the days will be filled.  Work is often a very important part of our lives.  There is a wealth of research that demonstrates that being active as we grow older and continuing to feel our sense of worth is essential to maintaining our health and well-being.

BCP is developing an Ethical Guide to Retirement Practices which will be launched in the Autumn of 2010.  This is part of our involvement in the Lifelines project managed by Age Concern Brighton, Hove and Portslade.

Across the region there will be a significant shift in the age of those in employment in the next 5 years. The over 50s will represent one of the largest demographics, and many of this group will wish to change their working practices through reduced hours and/or levels of responsibility but also want to utilise their skills effectively whilst in employment as well as plan for retirement. For employers this change in the workforce presents a number of opportunities, as well as challenges.

We wish to gather as many views as possible from employees over 50 to inform our guide which will be launched in the Autumn of 2010.

To complete the questionnaire please click here.  It should take less than 5 minutes, and we greatly appreciate your help.  The deadline for submissions is Friday the 9th July at 5.30pm.

If you would like more information about the project before completing the questionnaire then please contact Dave Rush at bcpadmin@bhbcp.org.uk or telephone 01273 770075.
