Nominate someone for the Older People's Awards!

Tracey Allen from SEA PR Consultancy works with a number of charities in the area. Now she's asking for you to get involved too. The Older People's Day awards are back for a second year...

Over the last 12 months my attention has been tuned into the older members of our community through my work locally with Impact Initiatives and  the annual celebration that is the UN sponsored International Older People's Day.

It is no surprise to me that working with older people is nothing but a joyous experience because despite the years and the speed in which some respond to our 100 mph digital lifestyle the older members of our society still have so much to give, yet "we" seem to have less and less to give back to them.

This is why I bring you some very good news because here in Brighton and Hove we are celebrating our older people. The council is working towards age friendly city status and launched just last year by local charity Impact Initiatives The Older People's Awards are back for a second year!

This unique and truly inspiring event takes place on International Older People's Day (October 1st). Thanks to the generosity of The Grand Hotel, The Argus and other key partners across the city it is a staggeringly fun and inspiring afternoon celebrating the older generation of Brighton and Hove and all that they have given to our city over the years. Coverage of last year's event is here.

The Older People's Day celebration has in one year grown in its stature, and this year there will also be a series of events across the city between September 29th and October 5th, the Older People’s Awards on 1st and as part of the Photo Biennial and intergenerational photographic exhibition on Sunday October 5th at St Johns Centre in Hove.

So now it's about getting everyone involved.  If you are a business maybe you would like to sponsor or nominate someone for the Greatest Contribution to Business Award or perhaps you know someone that deserves the very special Duke of Richmond award, Courage award or Special Impact Award?

For all of the information and to download a nomination form please click the link below or go to http://impact-initiatives.org.uk/older-peoples-day. Time is ticking - deadline for nominations is Monday.
