Chamber interns win prize for 'best contribution to local industry' (2)

Congratulations to The University of Brightongraduates Tiffany Wheble andSteve Hutton who recently won the Chamber sponsored prize for'best contribution to local industry' following their volunteer work at the Brighton & Hove Chamber of Commerce.

Tiffany has now joined Chamber members South Downs Solar Limited who are a growing renewable energy and building efficiency company dealing with all aspects of solar, lighting and building efficiency.

SDS is looking to fulfil its continued growth with new employment opportunities for local residents including Apprenticeships and new sales consultants. Through its joint Innovation project with University of Brighton we have high expectations about a solar PV product that could lead to South Downs Solar taking on a post graduate from the University and business development roles to further develop and distribute the new device.

Tiffany says, "I decided to study the Small Business and Entrepreneurship module as part of my BA (Hons) Business Management Top-up degree as I am interested in owning my own company one day.  Our lecturer Clifford Conway suggested that we may like to volunteer for the BHCC to compliment our studies for this module, so I decided to take this opportunity as an excellent way of making contacts in the city and improving my CV."

"It  was very helpful working at the BHCC as not only did I learn lots about what they do, I also got to help out at their events and gain an understanding of how they support local businesses.  I worked really hard during my final year and achieved a First, so was delighted that it all paid off!  After I finished my degree the connection with the Chamber also enabled me to gain a full-time job with one of their members as an office manager."

"It has all been a very positive experience and I hope to keep working with BHCC in the future as part of my new role."

For further information or to arrange a new survey for your home or business please contact Tiffany on 0800 009 4199 or go to www.southdownssolar.co.uk
