‘Dawn of Hope’ walk in aid of Grassroots Suicide Prevention on 12 September 2025

On 12 September, Martin Searle Solicitors are holding their second annual sponsored walk to raise funds and awareness for Grassroots Suicide Prevention.
Their 'Dawn of Hope’ walk is inspired by Office Manager Amy O’Shea, who organised their first sponsored walk last September because of her own personal experience of suicide. This raised over £2,400 to support the vital work that Grassroots Suicide Prevention carry out. This has now become an annual event and Martin Searle Solicitors would like to invite members of the business community to raise further funds for the important work Grassroots carry out to prevent suicide.
‘Dawn of Hope’ is in memory of all those who have been lost to suicide and to support those battling with their mental health. Starting at the Peace Statue on Brighton Seafront at 6am, the walk will proceed along the beach towards Brighton Marina.
For those who wish to join the walk at the Palace Pier, we will arrive at 6.15am. At 7am there will be a reception at Malmaison at the Marina. A representative from Grassroots Suicide Prevention will outline the importance of their work and how your donations help them provide valuable education and support in our community.
Local businesses and individuals can also donate to Martin Searle Solicitors’ JustGiving page to raise funds for Grassroots Suicide Prevention.
For more details about the work Grassroots Suicide Prevention carry out please see their website here.
Dawn of Hope leads on to Martin Searle Solicitors’ annual Disability Matters campaign. This is scheduled every October to coincide with Disability Awareness Week. This year, Martin Searle Solicitors are concentrating their Disability Matters campaign around some of the challenges neurodiverse people face in the workplace. This can lead to isolation, depression and anxiety and we will provide best practice advice to employers on supporting their neurodiverse staff at work. Details about Disability Matters 2025 are here.
Fiona Martin, Director and Head of Employment Law, says “We are delighted to support Amy in raising money and awareness for the vital work that Grassroots Suicide Prevention carry out. Sadly, suicide is far too common in our society and yet it is still hard to speak about this openly”.
As a campaigning law firm that tries to make a difference in our community, we think actions speak louder than words. We believe it is important to support causes that are important to both our staff and clients. For this reason, we decided that Grassroots Suicide Prevention is the charity that our clients can choose to donate their client account balances to at the end of their case.
