12 new trainee accountants, tax and business advisers welcomed at Carpenter Box

Every academic year, the Carpenter Box recruitment team actively seeks out trainee accountants, tax and business advisers to work across its offices in Worthing, Crawley, Brighton, Chichester, Lewes and Portsmouth. This year 12 people have joined the team bringing the number of trainees at the firm to 55, making up more than 20% of the overall workforce.

This cohort of trainees have chosen a variety of professional qualifications - the Chartered Accountant (ACA), the Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA) and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA). Others are pursuing joint pathways for Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA).

The firm is particularly pleased that three of this year’s cohort first met at its Trainee Scheme Open Evening in November 2024 and that those initial conversations grew into the start of their professional journey with Carpenter Box.

Joining the head office team in Worthing is Amrita Jassal in the Audit and Assurance team and Amy Cooke in our Outsourced Finance team, as well as Alfie Hyland as a Sussex University placement year student. The Worthing Business Services team is welcoming Bobby Haggis and the StarBox team is being joined by Darcy Tidzer-Smith and Finley Searle. In Portsmouth, Alice Thurman and Oscar Powell join the team, while Sanjana Jeeawock starts at the Chichester office and Thnus Sivanesan and Thomas Emmerson join the Crawley office. The Brighton office has welcomed Angelé Basden and Yunus Kol.

Carpenter Box Managing Partner, Alan Edwards, who started his own career as a trainee at the firm, commented: “We’re fully committed to playing our part in training the next generation of accountants, tax and business advisers and we invest heavily in emerging talent. Our training provision has earned ‘Approved Employer’ and ‘Platinum’ status, underlining our commitment to give our apprentices the best possible start to their careers. We are delighted to welcome our new starters, and look forward to supporting their growth and development as they embark on their careers with us.”

Carpenter Box is hosting its next Trainee Scheme Open Evening on Tuesday 11th November 2025 for anyone interested in exploring a career with in finance. To register your place https://www.carpenterbox.com/event/trainee-scheme-open-evening/
