Sessions Market

Sessions is a mission-driven urban regeneration concept, with the goal of redefining town-centres to reflect modern consumer trends. The business will begin by bringing together independent restaurateurs in large-scale, community-orientated food halls to provide expansive choice under one roof at competitive prices. Eco-friendly and focused on delivering high quality, sustainably sourced products, Sessions will reinvigorate locations and galvanise communities by providing dynamic, flexible places in which to meet, dine, socialise and enjoy engaging experiences. These places will constantly evolve with the local environment by adapting their varied offerings to changing tastes.
By working closely with property developers, landlords, local councils and restaurateurs, and through our own entrenched experience of the industry, we will launch our first site at Shelter Hall on the Brighton seafront in 2020.
There is an increasing volume of food halls across the UK, the most compelling of which offer an authentic representation of their local community and culture. The challenge has been that these authentic propositions are locally operated and do not have the propensity or expertise to scale. Those operators that have scaled (Market Halls, Boxpark etc.) have done so by creating a branded, homogenised chain, which detracts from the original appeal of the organic market, which was to showcase a multitude of new and exciting local independent vendors’ high-quality, ethical produce as an alternative to the generic mass-produced menus of the high-street chain restaurants. In their efforts to expand, these food hall operators are in danger of losing touch with their customer base. Sessions will combine an entrenched understanding of local culture and food, with extensive experience in scaling businesses and a clear focus on customer experience to make its food halls consistently the best in class and the preferred choice.
Beyond this, our ambition is far more than creating food halls. It’s what the food hall represents, as the focal point of community, that appeals to us. From that nucleus, we will build out sustainable, ethical and profitable supply lines, direct from their source, as well as investing in the future of our restaurant partners as they expand. We will form tight bonds with local authorities and property developers, through demonstrating extraordinary holistic place-making value, making us the go-to partner in any development.
