Resilience is one of those words we hear all the time in business. We talk about resilient teams, leaders and cities.

Being in business often means navigating and innovating around uncertainty in different forms – with national and global concerns like increasing costs, a challenging economy or a polarising political climate affecting how local businesses run day-to-day.

For some in this landscape, resilience looks like growth and innovation. For others, it’s about staying steady, keeping the lights on and making it through. But what separates businesses that adapt from those that simply survive? And is our city set up to support resilient business, or is there more work to do?

At our next Big Debate we’re asking whether Brighton's businesses are resilient enough. With our expert panel, we’ll explore the role of leadership, strategy and risk. How do you lead well when things feel uncertain? Is scaling a risk or a necessity? How do other cities do it? And does Brighton’s creative spirit naturally cultivate a more collaborative and adaptable environment that supports resilience – or perhaps the opposite?

Chaired by Gary Bishop, we’ll hear from an expert panel, including:
