Why is Developing a Strong Brand Identity Important?

Your brand can become one of your company’s most important assets and must be viewed as far more than just a logo. When consumers think of your company, what are the things they think about? Establishing a brand should address everything from your logo, to stationery, to marketing literature and of-course a website.

Equally important is the language used within all communication. The branding process should also help establish a “voice” for your company. This voice should be applied to all written communication and incorporated in the visual imagery of all materials, both online and offline. Every item you produce for your company should maintain a coherent brand look and feel.

Recent research suggested the value that your brand represents to your overall company value can be as much as 15% and in the case of a business like Coca-Cola & Apple, that figure is 50%. Therefore developing a strong brand identity can have a massive impact on your business with direct financial results.

Paul Jukes, Founder & Creative Director at Vivid Brighton tells us “It is important you develop an identity that truly reflects both your brand vision and brand message - helping you grow your business. When customers trust a brand and find it relevant, they will select the offerings associated with that brand over those of competitors, even at a premium price.”

Your brand is what helps your customers, staff and other stakeholders recognise and trust your business. Through your visual identity and your brand’s tone of voice, your audience develops their perception of who you are and what your brand stands for.

In a company with many staff across different geographic locations, Brand Guidelines are particularly valuable - They help everybody in your business, in every department and location, understand why your brand should be represented a certain way, what the correct way of doing so is and how this benefits them as well as the business. Everything produced by your business from marketing to business documentation will have brand consistency. Your online presence will be consistent with your offline communications - your brand will shine!

Brand consistency builds brand recognition....
Brand recognition leads to brand growth.
