Top tips for business growth

Ahead of this year’s Brighton Summit ‘A day for your growing business’, John O’Sullivan of Key Travel and Ten2Two shares his three top tips for business growth.

1.       Directors and business owners should spend the majority of their time thinking about customers, sales and marketing and not administration and management. Let others take care of that.
2.       Think big but work out how to grow using the resources at your disposal rather than taking on business loans or racking up credit card debt.
3.       People make the difference. Business growth can stall when you don't have the right people, with the right skills and the right experience. When you need more resource, bring it in (part-time is an affordable way to achieve this) and don't compromise on talent.

John is the Group Marketing Director of Key Travel, a business that looks after the travel needs of 2,000 charity, humanitarian and academic organisations in the UK, USA and Europe.
Alongside this John is the Founder and now Chair of Ten2Two – a resourcing organisation that helps local businesses source part-time professionals and in turn helps hundreds of talented and experienced people – mostly women with families - find local, flexible work.

Ten2Two started in West Hertfordshire in 2007 and now has teams operating across Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Kent, Hampshire, Sussex and London. In 2013 they met over 1,000 people face to face and have used this insight to contribute to industry debates, research and policy making around flexible working and women in the workplace.

Both organisations are experts in their sector and make a real difference in the way they do business and the care they have for their customers.
