Morrisons Solicitors successfully complete the ‘3 Peaks Challenge’

Last weekend six determined walkers from Morrisons Solicitors, who have offices in Redhill, Woking, Wimbledon and Camberley, braved the elements to complete the "3 Peaks Challenge" in aid of Surrey-based charity Disability Challengers.

Partners Jeremy Jupp and Gareth Humphreys, Paralegals Charlotte Brett and Robert Mulvany, Trainee Solicitor Emma McLoughlin and Jeremy's son William all successfully completed the ascent of Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in less than 25 hours. The feat was truly remarkable in view of the atrocious weather they encountered, which included Arctic like blizzard conditions on Ben Nevis and a gale on Snowdon.

Indeed, Robert and William still managed to finish the course in under the magic 24 hours. Martyn Paul of Advocate Adventures, who organised the challenge to enable Morrisons to raise funds for Disability Challengers, described the feast as "remarkable" in the circumstances. He said "These were some of the worst conditions the participants have had to deal with in all the years I have organised the 3 Peaks Challenge." As the weather suddenly closed in on Ben Nevis other groups who were attempting the challenge had to turn back, but the Morrisons team were able to continue to the top as they had an experienced mountain leader with them, Davie Robb who partners with Advocate Adventures. Davie was able guide them past the many potential dangers on the mountain despite the almost total whiteout.

Jeremy Jupp said after the event "We had an amazing experience. There were times when we all felt that we just couldn't go any further, and it is then simply a battle of mind over matter. We had to go on, not least because people have been so generous in sponsoring us to raise money for Disability Challengers, which is a wonderful charity. Scafell was particularly difficult. We arrived at the drop off point at 4-45am following the treacherous conditions encountered on Ben Nevis only a few hours before. The mood as we wearily started the long haul up Scafell Pike was summed up by Gareth when he declared "I've lost my Mojo!"

Throughout the event the participants were sent messages of encouragement by Mady Hatton of the charity
