Local Insurer Donates to the Martlets

On Friday 21st September, colleagues from the Brighton & Hove office of NFU Mutual, the UK’s leading rural insurer, visited the Martlets Hospice in Hove to present a donation of £535.

The NFU Mutual office in Church Road, Hove held their official opening in March 2012, and as part of their initial business activities they committed to donate £5 for each insurance policy sold to The Martlets charity for a three month period.

Tracey Rooke, NFU Mutual Sales Advisor at the Office, said: “We are thrilled to be supporting the Martlets.  As a team, we feel that at some point everyone’s’ lives are touched by terminal illness. Hospices, such as the Martlets, play such a vital role in providing the care and support to both the patient and their families”. 

The donation will be put towards funding patient care, and Clem Hunnisett, Community Events Fundraiser, said: “The Martlets relies upon the generosity of the public to fund its work and we are so grateful to the team at NFU Mutual Brighton for their significant contribution to our cause. We must raise £3.5million every year to run the Hospice and local corporate support such as this is absolutely essential”.

As part of the presentation of the funds, Rebecca Baker, Branch Manager for the Brighton Agency and her team received a tour of the Hospice to show them how their donation will help local people. Rebecca added: "we’re pleased to be supporting such a worthwhile cause which plays such an important part in the local community. Much of the care and support provided by the Martlets is delivered to patients in their own homes and staffed by volunteers.  We look forward to continuing the relationship with The Martlets and raising more money for them!".
