Cobb PR scoop gold at the fresh award

Over at Cobb PR, we’re not ones for blowing our own trumpet, but today I’m afraid we have to.  Last week we won Gold at the Fresh Awards for our work on a combined PR and social media campaign for East Sussex County Council, which we, of course, want to shout about.

Our work with ESCC stimulated residents and businesses in rural East Sussex to register their support for superfast broadband. We reached out to people through a variety of communication channels including the media, social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter and through ambassadors in the community.  Thus proving that a fusion between traditional PR and its younger cousin social media, is a tremendously effective way of communicating a message to any market.

We hit our target of 10,000 signatures ahead of schedule and helped the council sign a deal with a telecoms provider in May.  Jenny Devane, Broadband Engagement Manager at East Sussex County Council, said: “This campaign has achieved truly remarkable results despite a tight budget and these could not have been achieved without our collaborative partnership with Cobb PR, their dedication, and support.”

We decided to enter the Fresh Awards because we we’re extremely proud of what both Cobb PR and East Sussex county Council had achieved and the number of people we managed to reach.  We also wanted to demonstrate to other members of the PR industry that with some creative thinking and a great relationship with your client, it is possible to produce impressive results on a small budget.

The campaign has also been short-listed for a second national communications award and a regional award so hopefully we might have some more good news to share with you soon!
