Chamber of Commerce re-launches sustainability group

After a series of consultations and workshops the Brighton & Hove Chamber of Commerce has re-launched it’s sustainability-focused sub-group.

With a strengthened focus and long-term ambition, the Green Chamber Collective has a clear strategy to cultivate sustainability in the city.

The group of like-minded Brighton and Hove businesses has committed to volunteer time and resources to share best practice, lobby the council and encourage traditional businesses to adopt more sustainable operations.

Formerly know as the ‘Green Group’, the new name and image reflects the fresh direction.

Danni Craker, founder of Craker Business Solutions and Chamber volunteer, has taken a leading role in re-positioning the group.  She said:

“As a group we have taken the time to re-evaluate what we really want and need to progress the sustainable business agenda in the city.  The result is the newly formed Green Chamber Collective. We’re a diverse group with a passion for growing business responsibly and we want to inspire others to do the same.”

The Collective is the largest and fastest-growing subsidiary of the Brighton & Hove Chamber of Commerce. Over 40 sustainable businesses have already joined.

Member Liam Muckleston has discovered some of the group’s benefits. He said:

“As one of the Chamber’s most active groups, there’s definitely a strong demand from the sustainability sector. I've already met many other ethical and green businesses and had the opportunity to collaborate on projects.”

Throughout the year the Green Chamber Collective will run a series of informative events, including a number of workshops and networking opportunities. The first event, 'Sustainability and My Business’, will be held at Café Koba on Wednesday 11 July. The event starts at 6.00pm and is open to both Chamber members and non-members.

To book call 01273 719097 or visit www.businessinbrighton.org.uk/event/sustainability-and-my-business.
