Are you interested in new ideas to grow and develop yourself and your business?
Join us for the next Chamber Business Book Club on 20 January – it’s for people who love to learn, want to get new perspectives on business and personal development – and would also like to meet other like-minded individuals.
The book we’re reading for the January Book Club is Humankind: A Hopeful History by Rutger Bregman
Being part of the Business Book Club will get you delving into that pile of books – and introduce you to new titles that are not yet on your reading list.
Why this book?
The book's argument is that the innate goodness and cooperation of human beings has been the greatest factor in our success. A great positive read for the new year, or so Book Club attendees thought when they picked this as the next book.
The author, Dutch Historian and journalist, Rutger Bregman sets out to prove that we are wired for cooperation rather than competition and that our instinct to trust each other has an evolutionary basis going back to the beginning of Homo sapiens. Looking at over 200,000 years of history, he offers little known true stories to prove this fact.
So grab yourself a drink, get comfortable and join us online for an hour and a half of thought-provoking book and business chat.
What do attendee’s say about Book Club?
“The conversations tend to flow naturally, and you can say as much or as little as you like, so if you’d prefer something different to traditional networking events Book Club is a great way to meet new people and make new connections.” Samantha Oakley, SO Law
“The Chamber Business Book Club brings together a range of people with different perspectives and it’s a lively, interesting discussion around topics that make us all think” Mo Kanjilal, Watch this Sp_ce.
About the event
Amy Lishman, Head of Member Engagement, facilitates the discussion and shares prompts and questions about the themes and topics for you to reflect upon. Currently hosted on Zoom, for now, Chamber Book Club happens every three months.
We’ll send you a synopsis of the book a couple of weeks in advance, to get you thinking about what you might contribute on the night.
You can buy the book from any good retailer. City Books has an excellent selection of business books. You can buy over the phone from them or online through https://uk.bookshop.org/shop/city-books Bookshop.org is an online bookshop that supports independent bookshops.
